Action Alliance Lending Library
On April 1, 2004, the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence
Action Alliance (VSDVAA) Resource Library opened at the former
Virginians Aligned Against Sexual Assault (VAASA) office in
Charlottesville, Virginia. The collection of over 2,500 titles
focusing primarily on sexual and domestic violence and social
justice issues is comprised of resources from both the former
VAASA and Virginians Against Domestic Violence (VADV) libraries,
and is available to our membership for borrowing upon request.
Alliance staff seek to acquire all forms of media that will
keep our users abreast of emerging trends and current research
in the field. As the Resource Library is constantly expanding,
VSDVAA welcomes recommendations for purchases from our members,
allies and colleagues.
Borrowing Policy
Action Alliance (VSDVAA) members, including individuals,
organizations and member sexual and domestic violence programs,
are eligible to borrow from the resource library without
deposit. Member organizations and sexual and domestic violence
programs shall be the liable borrowers when staff of their
organizations borrow resources.
Resource materials may be kept for up to one month. If
there is another request for the resource, the borrower may
receive notice to forward the resource.
Requests for resource materials should be received at least
two weeks prior to the date needed. All materials shipped
outside the Charlottesville area will be mailed via US Post
Office or UPS. If an item is needed in less time, the borrower
shall pay the express postage cost. A borrower in the Charlottesville
area must make arrangements in advance to pick up the materials
from the VSDVAA library.
Reminder notices will be sent for overdue materials. VSDVAA
members will be invoiced for the replacement cost of materials
more than 30 days overdue. Borrowers with overdue resources
may not be permitted to borrow additional resources until
those overdue have been returned or reimbursement made.
VSDVAA members are welcome to loan materials to others
with the understanding that the member remains the liable
borrower and assumes the responsibility for loss or damage
fees.
The borrower will be charged the full replacement cost
for any materials which are lost, damaged beyond repair,
or are not returned to VSDVAA.
The borrower must assume the responsibility for obtaining
necessary copyright permissions.
