SUMMARY:Legislative Advocacy Day 2021
DESCRIPTION:We’re thrilled to have you join us (virtually!) for our annual Legislative Advocacy Day on Wednesday\, January 27\, 2021!  It’s always an amazing experience to see survivors\, advocates\, and allies filling the halls of the General Assembly. This year\, we’re asking advocates and preventionists to join us from every corner of Virginia to fill the VIRTUAL halls of the General Assembly as we lift survivor voices and advocate for policies that will respond to and prevent violence. \nIn 2020 we successfully advocated for the passage of new protective order and firearms laws\, housing protections for survivors\, and the initiation of a first ever state sexual and domestic violence prevention fund. However\, given the state’s emergency need to redirect funds to COVID-19 response efforts\, final deposits were never made in our new prevention fund. \nNOW more than ever\, as we have seen violence\, evictions\, and job insecurity on the rise for survivors\, it is time for our policy leaders to invest in sexual and domestic violence prevention.
