SUMMARY:Virtual Basic Intensive Advocacy Training
DESCRIPTION:The BIAT is a collaborative 2.5-day training designed for both victim-witness and sexual and domestic violence agency early career advocates who are in their first two years of advocacy work. \nThis training provides and overview of the role and responsibility of advocates; the guiding principles of a trauma informed response and the impact and effects of trauma on individuals; an overview of the civil and criminal justice system and tools available for effective advocacy; the importance of a collaborative response and the value of self-care and self- reflection in our work to support victims of violence. \nThe BIAT provides participants with the opportunity to learn about statewide resources that can support their work as well as opportunities to network and enhance relationships with others doing victim advocacy work in Virginia.   \nWHEN: Monday 4/19: 1pm-4pm\, Tuesday 4/20: 10am-4pm\, Wednesday 4/21: 10am-4pm \nWHERE: Virtually\, on Zoom \nHOW MUCH: $80 for VVAN or VSDVAA members. $100 for non-members \nREGISTER: Register online here by April 1.
