The People of Color Caucus (POCC) is an organization that advocates for the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) community within the field of sexual and domestic violence. Participants must be a member of the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance through work at statewide SV/DV agencies of by paying individual, professional, or affiliate fees.

People of color uniting to promote healing and wellness for members of the Action Alliance and sexual and domestic violence agencies. we encourage and support our BIPOC community in Virginia to vocalize, mobilize, and promote civil and human rights.

A Virginia where BIPOC advocates feel supported and are able to build collective power.

What We Do

The POCC provides a safe and confidential space for individuals to share experiences, collaborate, and support one another in the fight to dismantle the systemic conditions that allow violence to persist. Through collective action, we work to improve conditions for local agencies, advocate for statewide and national policy changes, and address issues releated to equity in organizational culture.

  • Be a member of the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance through SV/DV agency work or a paid membership, which includes discounted trainings, conference invites, partner resources, newsletters, and more!
  • Commit to attend at least one meeting per quarter. Join us virtually or in person (pop-up locations statewide). We meet once a quarter in person and have a monthly virtual meeting.
  • Be a person of color.
