The goal of this safety card is to prompt patients to consider whether they are in a healthy relationship or have experienced reproductive coercion—forced sex, birth control sabotage, unwanted pregnancy, or violence—by an intimate partner. The reproductive health safety card was developed for family planning and reproductive health settings.
This safety card has 8 panels and folds up accordion style to be 3.5in x 2in so that it can easily fit in a wallet or a shoe insole. This tool is most effective when placed in private areas such as restrooms or exam rooms, and may be given to patients routinely as part of regular visits or upon disclosure of abuse (following routine assessment for violence by a healthcare provider), in conjunction with a Universal Education approach.
