Each year, we invite folks from across the state to gather together as we celebrate and honor the work of individuals and organizations that embody change and empower the communities around them to promote conditions in which every person can thrive. These agents of change provide an example for us all.

This year, we honor Delegate Charniele Herring (46th district) who during the 2020 Virginia General Assembly Session sponsored and successfully championed legislation establishing the first-ever sexual and domestic violence prevention fund in Virginia. As a member of the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus, Del. Herring has also been instrumental in the ongoing development of policies to support the advancement of racial justice, housing justice, criminal justice reform, and recognizing and advancing the needs of Black and Brown survivors of state and interpersonal violence in Virginia.
